What is it?
Medicaid is a government health insurance program that helps individuals and families with children pay for some or all of their medical bills. What do I get? Free medical services such as doctors’ services, dental care, eyeglasses, home care, hospital care, and many other health-related services. Most people who receive Medicaid in Memphis must enroll in a managed care plan. Managed care is a health plan provided by a private Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). You can choose from a number of managed care plans. How long do I get it? You can get Medicaid as long as you still qualify but you'll need to recertify every 12 months. Recertification requires a Medicaid worker to make sure you are still eligible for Medicaid. |
