What is it?
Transitional Child Care (TCC) is a program for people leaving Families First. TCC provides childcare subsidies to people who have left Families First for 18 months after their case was closed.
What do you get?
The amount of the subsidy you receive depends on how much you earn and your family size. Depending on your income and family size, you will pay a weekly fee to your childcare provider. The Department of Human Services (DHS) pays the remaining amount directly to your provider. If you have children under the age of 13, TCC can be used to pay for Family Day Care, Group Family Day Care, Day Care Centers, school-age program or summer camp, and babysitters.
How long do you get it?
You can receive the child care subsidy for up to 18 months after your Families First case closes. You will need to recertify every 6 months to renew the benefits. Each time you recertify you must be able to demonstrate that you meet the eligibility requirements.
