What is it? The Memphis Career Center is one of many Career Centers located throughout the country that are funded by the federal Workforce Investment Act. These Career Centers were set up to be a one-stop resource to help people find a job, develop their job readiness skills, and get access to other supports they may need during a period of unemployment. What do you get? The Career Center can provide or connect you with free services that help you get a job or advance in your current job, including:
In addition, The Career Center offers a wide variety of social services, from practical advice on working with creditors and budgeting to providing you with resources that can help you cope with the stress of a job change or layoff. The Career Center also offers financial assistance and support to working families in transition. For example, you may be eligible to receive child care assistance or assistance with your commute to work. Your employment counselor will work with you to determine which services are right for you How long do you get it? General assistance and resources provided by the Memphis Career Center are available to eligible individuals for as long as they need the services.
